TYO’s holistic approach to the family and community considers parents to be an essential element of supporting young children. We offer a range of programs targeting adults both as individuals and as parents in order to extend the effects of TYO programs to the home environment. Older siblings of our Core Child Program participants are engaged in TYO programs for the same reason.
Activities for Parents
From our earliest needs assessment efforts, parents have communicated their need for activities that improve first as people, and consequently as parents. For example, parents are eager to learn practical skills like English and IT training that help them find jobs or support their children’s learning. A fitness class for mothers provides a healthy escape from stressful and exhausting lives. Through these programs, we offer adults the resources necessary to reach their individual potential and thereby raise healthier and happier children.
TYO also works to provide skills and information directly related to child development. Mothers in particular come to the TYO Center for activities like parenting and First Aid classes.
Open Door Policy
TYO staff are always available at the Center to parents to speak about their children as well as other issues that they’re facing. Contact with other like-minded organizations in Nablus allows us to refer families to other sources for services that TYO does not offer.
Older Children
In addition to parents, we reach out to children and youth over eight years old for a variety of programs designed to promote their personal, social, academic and professional development. As all TYO programs, these programs are determined by community interest, as well as available resources.
