Following the success of the two-year regional Fostering Women Entrepreneurs in the Middle East (FWEME) project in Palestine and Lebanon, the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and Tomorrow’s Youth Organization (TYO) continued to support women in northern Palestine with the launch of Advancing Palestinian Women Entrepreneurs in April 2015. The main goal of the project was to empower women entrepreneurs and provide them with the tools and skills needed to grow profitable and sustainable businesses that are scalable and facilitate job creation.


  • TYO fostered the enterprise development skills of 44 women entrepreneurs
  • 29 women entrepreneurs participated in group and individual coaching sessions focused on business plan development and business management
  • 19 women entrepreneurs engaged in a financial literacy session, a branding and marketing training, and a three-week intensive English and IT course
  • 19 women entrepreneurs were matched with fellow Palestinian business leaders and partook in intensive mentorships
  • 15 women entrepreneurs scaled up their businesses through incubation support and/or investment
  • APWE elevated women’s position in the Palestinian economy through public policy dialogue that highlighted women’s leadership roles and potential in business
