Interview with Ms. Halimeh Al Chaar

TYO-Lebanon wishes you a happy holiday season and a Happy 2012!

Halimeh Al Chaar is yet another one of the 20 women currently participating in the WEL project in North Lebanon and below we share with you our interview with Halimeh!

What is your personal background?

My name is Halimeh Al Chaar and I am 40 years old. I live with my parents in the small village of Tikrit in the North Lebanon village of Akkar. I have a B.A in philosophy and my major was a key contribution in helping me to think in a different way to my dreams.

What is your business idea?

Since I was young, I have had several dreams and through my experiences I have started to concentrate more on one particular idea. I do mouneh and handicraft and used to own my own bakery. However, my close attachment to my village as well as having a certificate of recognition in planting flowers has inspired me to think of a project that is related to flowers. I used to decorate for people from different villages on different occasions and this experience encouraged me to start thinking of having green houses to plant different kinds of flowers. It should me mentioned here that there is a need for such project in my region.

What kind of experience do you have?

I am taking part in the TYO/CBFW/RMF Women Entrepreneurs in Lebanon project and have learned many skills from the BIAT training center and am so thankful for the support of the team in helping me to build my skills and take me closer to my business. I have also participated in several workshops and expos in Lebanon.

What is your dream or ambition?

Before talking about my dream, my only ambition in life is to be self-confident. My character has helped me in achieving all that I am planning to have in life. In addition, I am working hard on my skills, particularly to enhance both my communication and marketing skills.

Good luck, Halimeh, and all 20 women of the WEL project!
