Welcome Summer 2014 Interns!

TYO is pleased to introduce the Summer 2014 International Interns! They come from diverse backgrounds – all the way from the United States, and the United Kingdom. Read all about them! Summer Interns, Darializa, Amanda, and Yvonne

Amanda

Amanda is from a suburb just north of Chicago. She is currently studying at Northeastern Illinois University, majoring in History and Secondary Education and minoring in Political Science. Amanda spends much of her free time working in Student Government and is looking forward to student teaching this fall. This summer, Amanda is teaching The Women’s Group Fitness & Nutrition, Core Competency at An Najah University, and ESL to children enrolled in TYO's Core Child Program.

Darializa

Darializa is a sophomore at Columbia University in NYC and is originally from Miami, Florida. She is very proud of her Dominican background and believes that her identity is what has directed a lot of her academic interests. Being of a minority culture and growing up in the US  pushed her to further explore and understand her own culture and that of others, which in turn led her to foster a real appreciation for various middle eastern cultures. Darializa hopes to one day work at the UN. This summer, Darializa is teaching Core Competency at An Najah University, and ESL to children enrolled in TYO's Core Child Program.

Yvonne

Yvonne is from Devon, in the south west of the UK. Yvonne earned a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from Royal Holloway, London, and an MSc International Public Policy from UCL. After graduating, she worked at a law firm for a few years and got very involved in volunteer roles at the National Model United Nations in the US and with Restless Development in Zimbabwe and the UK. This summer, Yvonne is teaching The Women’s Group Fitness & Nutrition, Core Competency at An Najah University, and ESL to children enrolled in TYO's Core Child Program.
