Humans of Nablus 1
Have you heard of the ever popular Humans of New York? It's a photography initiative that's taken social media by storm. The movement features portraits and interviews collected on the streets of New York. The stories have been sad, funny, encouraging and moving but the true beauty of Humans of New York, is that it celebrates the city's diversity - everyone has a story to tell. Many other cities have jumped on the "Humans of.." movement and we're so excited to share our newest series: Humans of Nablus.
This week, our theme in the kids’ program is community. Teaching that, I’ve really had a chance to think about how TYO feels like a community within the larger Nablus community. The people that come to our center and take part in our programs come from everywhere: refugee camps, villages and towns around Nablus, and neighbourhoods within the city. To me, this is very important because that diversity is one of the many ways we learn. The kids here have a choice, and they are open to trying new things and meeting new people, whether from the Nablus area or from far away. This is why TYO means more to me than I can explain.
