Fall 2019 International Interns
Introducing our fall 2019 International Interns. Our interns Chambri and Laura have arrived to Nablus to support our programs for children, women, and youth. Learn more about them.
Chambri is from Hawaii (US) and finished her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. In 2018, Chambri’s commitment to Peace and Conflict studies led her to work with refugee communities along the ex-Balkan migration route with Serbia’s Asylum Protection Center, while helping implement workshops for women. Working with TYO is Chambri’s dream internship, and hopefully the precursor to a future career in international NGO work and humanitarian aid focused on women’s and youth empowerment. During her off-time Chambri can be found on stage performing in plays or laughing alongside her improvisational comedy troupe.
Laura is originally from Spain but grew up in Ankara. She obtained a degree in Journalism, Creative Writing and Politics in 2018 and will soon graduate with a Master’s in Human Rights and International Relations from Glasgow University. Laura has experience writing for student publications, working as a translator and teacher, and volunteering in homeless shelters. She enjoys discovering new cultures and has lived in various countries including Turkey, Spain, France and the UK. She is now aiming to gain experience in the NGO sector as her dream job would be to work in the media department of an international organization. Laura's hobbies include travelling, sports (especially hiking) and keeping up with foreign affairs.
