National Children's Museum highlights cooperation with TYO
TYO partner National Children's Museum showcased our cooperation in Washington DC this week. The event was hosted by NCM Board Member, Zeid Masri and his wife Beth, in the lead-up to the NCM Gala on December 2 and discussion focused on the TYO-NCM partnership. The exhibit panels that have been on display at the NCM Launch Zone (see photo below) were on display and NCM and TYO team members, (Willard Whitson, NCM's VP of Public Programs & Exhibitions, Mark Wright, NCM's Director of Partnerships and Nell Derick Debevoise, TYO's Director) discussed the work we've done together over the last year as well as previewing plans for 2011 and beyond.

An exhibit of children's artwork from TYO's flagship in Nablus has been on display at the NCM Launch Zone in the National Harbor throughout 2010. The current artwork portrays the nature of 'play' in Nablus with a focus on child-made kites! The third and final installment will open in November, depicting the nature of celebrations in Nablus with a focus on Ramadan, which was celebrated in Nablus in August and September.
We look forward to the next phase of our cooperation, which we hope will include expanded components of capacity building for TYO staff, increased live exchange between children in the Middle East and original museum content, curricula and merchandise based on our partnership that can be distributed to other children's museums and community organizations around the world.
