Humans of Nablus 46
“Hello! My name is Ahed, and I come from the village of Sebastia, in the city of Nablus, where I live with my family. I am currently an Accounting student at Al Quds Open University.
Last summer, I joined TYO because I wanted to try something new in my free time, and I grew in ways I never expected. Before TYO, I wasn’t very social; actually I was quite reserved, and spent most of my days at home. But through volunteering at TYO, I discovered a new side of myself. I have learned to enjoy being active and working with children and I found a second family. When I don't come to the organization, I feel like something is missing from my day.
Being awarded a scholarship last year was truly a turning point. The joy I felt that day was indescribable, seeing the pride in my family’s eyes…With their support and encouragement, I feel ever more determined to reach for my goals. I want to complete my education, and pursue a Master’s in Accounting.
But my ambition doesn't stop at academics. In my free time, I also bake and sell sweets to family and friends. By combining my passion and entrepreneurial spirit, I want to become an independent woman, and be able to rely on myself and my own skills.”
Ahed has been a volunteer at TYO for a year now. Her aspirations echo the spirit of Palestinian women – resilient, determined, and capable of overcoming any challenge. And her journey serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the limitless potential within youth, regardless of their circumstances, to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
