Black History Month at TYO
This month, the US celebrates Black History Month as a time to learn, remember and pay tribute to African Americans. At TYO, we took time this month to discuss the history of African Americans, the Civil Rights Movement and diversity. In a special assembly of over 60 students ages 9-12, we discussed the importance of diversity and embracing one's differences. After the assembly, students colored self-portraits of themselves and described what makes them unique. Check out the photos from our Black History Month program.
