Last week, we were trilled to start of the Summer 2016 Academic Support Program. The program, which caters to 9-14 year olds, piloted this past spring and was a major success. In its pilot stage, the program was available to children in the immediate neighborhood of TYO, Khallet El Amoud. However, its achievements allowed the organization to expand the program's reach to the larger community of Nablus including the four refugee camps in the city.

Read MoreWhen I was volunteering last session, I cooperated with the volunteers and got close with the children, especially the children ages 8 and 9. I did many exercises with them to help them write letters, and they learned them. For example, at the end of a few classes, I gave all of them homework to write a small story. Little by little, day by day, they wrote better.

II English classroom with new students. Next week at about the same time, determined learners from across the unpredictable city of Nablus will be leaving early to ensure they can be in their afternoon classes that day.
